SUMMARY:"Forever Mine" Stage Production
DESCRIPTION:2023 marks the 250th anniversary of “Amazing Grace” – the world’s best-loved hymn and one of the most recorded songs of all time. St Andrew’s Church\, Hertford is delighted to be hosting a performance of the brand-new stage play “Forever Mine”\, based on the life of its writer\, John Newton. \nAt its heart\, Amazing Grace tells Newton’s dramatic story while the stage play explores this story through the lens of the two great loves of Newton’s life – his love of God and his love for “Polly” (the nickname for his wife\, Mary). \nBased on Polly and Newton’s love letters\, on diaries and other authentic historical writings\, Forever Mine is a true story of separation and reunion\, death and new life\, love\, loss and redemption. Although set in the 18th Century\, the moving narrative will resonate with modern audiences. \nThe drama also looks honestly at John Newton’s role in the slave trade. It traces his slow journey to repentance and his later work supporting William Wilberforce and the campaign for abolition. Forever Mine also elevates the lesser-known voices of the abolition movement such as former slave Olaudah Equiano and the poet William Cowper. \nForever Mine is brought to life by a stellar cast of professional actors starring Ellis Wells as John Newton\, Susie Garvey-Williams as Polly Newton\, Gideon Assuming as Olaudah Equiano and Ryan Moss as William Wilberforce. \nLiving Breath Productions is touring the play in the UK after a very successful tour of the island of Ireland. More details can be found on https://livingbreathproductions.com/ \nTickets available at £10 plus Booking Fee. A licensed bar will serve refreshments. \nForever Mine (Hertford) Tickets\, Tue 31 Oct 2023 at 19:30 | Eventbrite \n  \n“Better than some shows I’ve seen in the Lyric [theatre in Belfast]”. \n“A wonderful and inspiring production – brilliant acting”.
