The population of the UK is growing and housing developments are being planned to accommodate this. These developments reshape community life by providing new neighbours and, sometimes, new facilities (depending on their size). The New Development Group will be seeking to answer the fundamental question, “How do we welcome our new neighbours?” but noting that this runs deeper than smiling at them in the street:
- How does a parish church engage effectively with the planning process and with community members who may not want new houses to be built?
- How do we campaign for the right facilities for the new community and the best use of any grant funding which may accompany the build?
- How do we consistently and effectively demonstrate God’s love for those who move in and those who wish they hadn’t?
